Organic Certification
Sustainable, organic farming is a central tenet of the Umbhaba philosophy. After many years of pursuing all the necessary steps to convert the farms to the organic way of farming, Umbhaba eventually received full organic certification in 2003. To be certified organic, a farm must produce food in a prescribed way. Umbhaba Estates is inspected annually and our certification is underwritten by BCS, a third party specializing in organic certification. Our organic certification enables consumers to rest assured that our produce is healthy and safe. For further details see kiwa.
Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health and quality of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects.
Eat healthy, live healthy
Organic foods contain no pesticides, hormones or heavy metal residues, which may disrupt our endocrine systems, such as our immune system.
Your taste buds will tell the difference
Organic foods have higher levels of nutrients such as antioxidants, natural plant sugars, vitamins and minerals. This results in fuller, more delicious flavours which contributes to an overall more wholesome eating experience.
